The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Chandigarh is a renowned institution specializing in the field of forensic science services in India. The laboratory upholds the highest standards of quality in its reports by implementing stringent quality control and assurance processes and is accredited by NABL accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

The functions of the laboratory are mainly of three fold, firstly, to provide analytical support for criminal investigations, assisting both law enforcement agencies and the Judiciary; secondly, to conduct research and development activities on the various problems of the forensic sciences and lastly, to impart advanced training in forensic science to Judicial Officers, Forensic Scientists, Police Officers, and other Law Enforcement Personnel. To facilitate its technical functions, the laboratory is organized into specialized division’s viz. Ballistics, Biology & DNA, Chemistry, Narcotics, Explosive, Forensic Electronics, Physics, Toxicology and Questioned Documents.
